My wife and I went for our weekend jogs in Allendale and Ramsey a few days ago, and I was struck by how much bird life there was — especially in terms of bird sounds.

Call me a sap, but I couldn't help but it sounded like spring…

Over our 40 minute run, we had two male Northern Cardinals calling, plenty of Tufties, Amercan  Crow, Blue Jay, Carolina Wren, Downie, Hairy and Red-bellied.

As we returned home, we heard a Red-shoudered Hawk calling as well. And the Cardinals and dickie birds have been busy at the feeder.

Always nice when the dead of winter isn't so dead after all.
