Woodcock Walk This Saturday
Fyke Nature Association's next field trip is Saturday at the Great Swamp. Here's the listing:

Woodcocks at the Great Swamp NWR
Meet in the Great Swamp at the Heronry Parking Lot at 4 p.m.(last day of Eastern Standard Time). There will be some late day birding. Bring a light snack to enjoy while we wait for sunset. Leader: Mike Limatola.
On a similar note, my next column for The Record is on the Amercan Woodcock. Has anyone seen/heard any in North Jersey besides Halifax Road and Laurel Hill County Park this year?

Not exactly North Jersey, but I did see a displaying male at The Great Swamp this past Sunday (3/4/12) evening. I also heard at least 2 others calling and displaying.
