‘Ghosts’ Talk in Mahwah on Oct. 30
Ghosts
in Allendale? Phantoms in the Ramapos? Join local ghost writer Jim
Wright on Wednesday night, Oct. 30, at the Mahwah Public Library as
he reads his two popular local haunted tales for Halloween Week.
“Ghosts
of Allendale” takes place during the Revolutionary War and features the Celery Farm and Allendale’s own founding father, John Fell.
“Phantoms of the
Ramapos” is based on true events that occurred in Allendale and
Ho-Ho-Kus 75 years ago.
Both
ghost tales were inspired by local history and heavily researched,
and both stories will be accompanied by slide shows.
"The Ghosts
of Allendale" tale is illustrated with the book’s original
artwork by Northern Highlands students.
"Phantoms of the
Ramapos" is
illustrated with archival photos of the Ho-Ho-Ku
Speedway, old downtown Allendale, and the Darlington Schoolhouse.
The
event is free and open to the public. Signed copies of “Ghosts of
Allendale” will be available for sale, with all proceeds going to
the Fell House. “Phantoms of the Ramapos” is available as a free
iTunes download.
The event is Wednesday night, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. in
the Mahwah Public Library, 100 Ridge Road, Mahwah. Seating is
first-come, first-served. Contact the library at
201-529-2183 for more information.
