Gray-cheeked Thrush at CF

Gray-cheeked thrush
Jim Kuehlke writes:

On Tuesday, Julie McCall and I had a Gray-cheeked Thrush across the brook from the Limatola bench.

We first I.D.'d it as a Swainson's Thrush, but when Julie got home she asked me to send her my pictures & she compared them to her pictures then double checked with Rob F.

Rob said it is the earliest Gray-cheeked by 6 days for the farm 🙂

(Thanks, Jim, Julie and Rob! Great spotting.)

I may have seen a prothonotary warbler in Dunkerhook park today (May 16) What else could a faded orange bird with dark wings be? (I’m not a very experienced birder and just noted the faded orange color)

  • Like Deedee said the bird has been confirmed as a BICKNELL’S THRUSH–a first for the CF! I was there twice today and missed it both times–however the bird is still being seen as of this afternoon (latest sighting by Fred Weber)

  • It has been confirmed that it is a Bicknell’s Thrush!! (Jim K and Fred W)

  • Thank You, I saw the same fellow yesterday in the woodsy area (not familiar with the lingo everyone uses 🙂 ). I was getting a pretty good look at him (with his back turned to me as usual), till someone else walked by and he took off. I couldn’t possitively identify him myself, so didn’t mention it in the log. Now I’m convinced that’s what it was, so thanks 🙂
