This Friday: “At The Great Moth Ball”
We have massaged the lyrics of the Shirley Temple classic, "At the Codfish Ball," so they can be sung (preferably by you) at the third annual Allendale Moth Ball on Friday night… if the awesome After Hours Band is willing.
That's right, we're having a live band, and this will be the only bad song all evening. Did we mention the event is free and open to all? And an amazing surprise or two awaits?
More info on the Moth Ball is here.
The lyrics to "At the Great Moth Ball" follow. (Thanks to Ginny Jones for the idea!)
The Great Moth Ball
with apologies to songwriters Lew Pollack and Sidney D. Mitchell
This very night you’re all invited
To ditch the suburbs’ sprawl.
All the moths in Allendale
Are having a ball.
It’s some affair. They'll all be there.
Polyphemus will perch and sail.
They'll all be shaking a scale
in Red Barn's hall.
Come along and follow me
Lunas singing harmony
We'll join in the Jamboree
At the Great Moth Ball.
Cecropias dancing in a row
Flutter off to Buffalo
Geometers sway to and fro
At the Great Moth Ball.
Leopards and Tigers leads the Plume
All the way across the room
The Gypsy Moth plays tamborine
But he can't jitterbug like a Jitterbug can.
Three-Spots twistin' under lights.
The After Hours Band! What a night!
There won't be a fly swatter in sight
At the Great Moth Ball.
Come along and follow me
Lunas singing harmony
We'll join in the Jamboree
At the Great Moth Ball.
