More about Lorrimer Sanctuary

IMG_0653

NJ Audubon is holding an open house today to celebrate the renovated main building at Lorrimer.

In researching last week's column about the renovations, I came across several old clippings and made several notes. I have attached an article by old boss at The Record, Bob Comstock, when he was likely a regional reporter in the 1950s.

One of the things that struck me about the renovations is that much of the homey feel of the old building remains, including the main room, where the fireplace, several carvings and photos, etc.,  remain.

Pictured here are some of the carvings, including one of a flicker carved by Stiles Thomas and donated by Nancy Drabik. It made me feel right at home.
