A Monday Mystery
On a walk in the woods in Highland, N.Y., I encountered this bare patch in the leaves. No other humans had used the path.
What created the bare patch? I'd like to see if your answer matches mine.

It could have been a clump of mushrooms that have since degraded into a pile of ooze. ? The ground doesn’t look disturbed enough to blame on Turkey scratchings. I am not really sure. I am just guessing!
