My New Talk: The Turncoat & the Turnpike

Governor William Franklin …..

Did you know the Franklin Turnpike was named not for Benjamin Franklin but for his traitorous son, William? And why, as such, it’s an affront to the Hermitage and other local historic treasures?

Just in time for America’s 250th birthday, writer and local history buff Jim Wright explains all in this engaging illustrated talk at the Hermitage, the National Historic Landmark located on the Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus, about two miles south of the Celery Farm Nature Preserve.

The talk is Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m. in Jaqua Hall at the Hermitage. Tickets are $20; $10 for Friends of the Hermitage members.
