Cardinal Eating Suet
I thought the reports of Yellow-bellied
Sapsuckers at North Jersey suet feeders this winter were unusual, until…
I saw a male Northern Cardinal fluttering like a hummingbird and eating at my suet feeder yesterday, and more than once.
As soon as he left, I refilled my seed feeder.
Stiles Thomas, not to be outdone, says he once heard a cardinal imitate a tree frog. (it was not a riveting performance, for obvious reasons.)
How about you? What is the strangest thing you have seen at your feeder?

Strangest thing at my feeder…. a pintail. Don’t know where it came from, but I looked out the kitchen window and did a double-take. Was only there 1 day.
