My Column: State Line Hawk Watch
A view of State Line Lookout and the Hudson River beyond in Alpine. By Jim WrightSpecial to The Record |…
Marsh Warden Emeritus Stiles Thomas found this in his yard the other day. What is it? The whitish thing, not the quarter.
And yes, we know what it is.
Baby birds poop sack …
A hatched snake egg.
i agree with Janet- looks like a failed egg- could be from a duck
A puff ball – mushroom type?
It looks like some type of soft shelled egg. Perhaps from a turtle or a snake. Given the size, and the fact that it looks misshapen it also could be an unviable egg aborted by a bird larger than song bird. A lot of guessing on my part! Am I even close? Very curious.
