Female Redstart Survives Window Strike

DSCN9048
My wife Patty and I were chilling on the patio yesterday when we heard a dull thud, and watched as a female Redstart dropped in an Adirondack chair under the picture window.

We have put all sorts of stickers on the outside of the window to reduce this sort of thing, but we were still feeling low.

We thought we'd give it 20 minutes to shake it off before figuring what to do next (like call The Raptor Trust), and made sure no predators got near in the meantime.

After about 18 minutes, it became alert and flew to a nearby bush for safety.

We saw it hopping around later. How do you spell relief?

Anybody have suggestions on reducing window strikes?

A column I wrote about window strikes is here.  I guess we need to stop cleaning that window.
