My Column: State Line Hawk Watch
A view of State Line Lookout and the Hudson River beyond in Alpine. By Jim WrightSpecial to The Record |…
Photographed these three guys in Hawk Mountain's native plant garden last month — all within the span of about five minutes.
Who are they?
The first and third photos are both dogwood sawfly larvae- they’re actually wasps. #2 is a milkweed tussock..
My guess would be:
1. Black Swallowtail
2. Milkweed Tussock
3. Hairstreak
But it is only a guess.
