More About the Legendary Frank Chapman

If you'd like to know more about Frank Chapman, creator of the Christmas Bird count,  a great place to start is this YouTube video by Steve Quinn of the American Museum of Natural History.

Steve did the video 10 years ago this month, and it is terrific. Here's the description from YouTube:

Naturalist and long-time exhibition artist Stephen C. Quinn tells the story of his "all-time Museum hero," Frank M. Chapman, who worked in the Ornithology Department from 1888 to 1942. Chapman's career is a litany of firsts: first curator of birds at the Museum, writer of the first field guides to birds, creator of Christmas bird counts, and first to recognize the power of the habitat displays to build public concern about existential threats to bird species.

The video is also on Bergen County Audubon page. I post it here for those who are Facebook-averse.
