My New Column: All About the Mysterious Brown Creeper
My latest column for The Record is all about the bird that few know about and even fewer see very often — the Brown Creeper.
Here's the opening:
One of my favorite bird species sometimes dines in the woods beyond my Allendale back yard, but I seldom see it — even when it's around.
It's called a brown creeper, and at first glance you'd think this little guy must have overslept the morning that Mother Nature was handing out charisma.
It's not a bit flashy or noisy or colorful. In fact, at first glance you may not even see it at all.
A big thank you to Alice Leurck for the photo.
Apologies for the poem at the end of the column — I bet you did not see that coming.
The link is here.

That’s a baby Painted Turtle. Snapper has no red spots around carapace and it has points at the back of the shell.
