Alice Leurck writes:

I had the nerve to attempt a photo yesterday from the Warden's Watch of the American Bittern located to the left of the Pirie-Mayhood Tower yesterday.

If nothing else, it shows what a master of camouflage this bird is, even when it is relatively out in the open!

(The bird was found by Kris B in the morning and re-found by Ray and Denise.)

Thanks, Alice! I did not see it when I looked today but may well still be around.

  • Kris B had TWO Bitterns there today (Fri) Good luck to those “weekend warriors” out there!

  • Omigosh….how wonderful…have to get there tomorrow!

  • Wow. Great pic

  • Nice shot Alice!
The Bittern is indeed still around. I had brief scope views from the Warden’s Watch this afternoon as it skulked in front of the Pirie-Mayhood tower.
