Love, love, love the article. We so totally ‘get’ your column today. We lost 2 of 4 standing bird houses this winter and they are too much gone to save. Each one is special pecked at, finials gone, been reworked, metal put around the pecked at holes, and remembered by the occasion celebrated when each was bought. Each season we would see twigs, strings, plastic wrap hanging out every peep hole “wreck of the Hesperus’ was exactly the term that came to mind- My mother’s word for my room. Thanks for a sweet column. Collyer will always come to mind when you look at the new one- mom knew exactly was she was hoping for when she gave it to you…sweet memories of mom-never to be forgotten
