Last Monday I wrote:

"When I went out to get the morning paper, saw a few of these crazy guys popping up in the front yard. That shiny brown top is part of the fungus, not some slug or melted chocolate. What is it?"

Turns out that Monday's magical mystery mushroom featured is an appropriately named Stinkhorn Mushroom.
