My friend Carol Flanagan points out that this weekend will be a cold "stay-in" weekend for many, and suggests a Birdy 30 for Saturday/Sunday.

Here are the rules:  Count how many species of birds you see from one window in one continuous 30-minute period this weekend. (Do it as often as you like, but not so often as to seem weird.)

Winner is the person who sees the most species. A special prize (our eternal praise) to whoever sees "the best bird" — Stiles Thomas' idea many years ago.
