Last Year on April 1 … Wild Turducken @ CF!
I just remembered: The inimitable Joe Koscielny saw a Wild Turducken in the Celery Farm on April 1, 2016.
I also realized that Joe had no business being there. The preserve was closed! (I may have to notify a marsh warden…)
Although Joe was unable to take a photo of this rare hybrid last April, I was able to hire artist Miwa Ishikawa of William Paterson University to do a likeness of the Wild Turducken, sort of a like a police sketch artist might do, or not.
I just realized I had never posted Miwa's illustration on the blog. There you go! (Thanks, Miwa!)
These prized birds have also been reported in High Mountain Park Preserve, near the summit, so keep your eyes peeled this spring.
You can read my story about the Wild Turduckens of High Mountain here, in last autumn's issue of Autumn Years.
