Save Meadowlands Birds from Deadly Threat

The Record's  Scott Fallon has an article about legislation that would require the developers of the American Dream shopping mall in the Meadowlands to use bird-friendly glass for the structure.

Reflective glass is responsible for an estimated hundreds of millions of bird deaths a year. Developers who are allowed to build a huge building along an important migratory flyway have a responsibility to make it as safe as possible.

I have worked in the Meadowlands, a major area for birds, and I've written several columns about bird-friendly glass, including this one.  It's a great idea, especially in an enormous building in a place like this. It has been done successfully elsewhere already.

Here's to Maywood Assemblyman Tim Eustace for introducing the legislation, and Bergen County Audubon for championing the issue.

The Record article is here.
