Mink by the Warden’s Watch Yesterday Afternoon
As I walked to the Warden's Watch yesterday, a mink crossed my path about eight yards in front of me and returned to the water.
No time to get a shot, but something to keep an eye out for.

You know thinking about it, that could have been a chipmunk or a young opossum that he had caught; it happened so quickly. It was shady and later in the afternoon. He was very quick and accurate! I did see a tiny, dead baby opossum on Parnell’s path last week. I have never seen a rat either.

Wow, great story. My wife saw a mink kill a squirrel within 50 yards of there this past spring. Those minks are a lot more ferocious than they look. Have not seen a rat at the CF in a long time.

Same day, I was just at Wardens Watch and headed down the path. Rounded the corner by the cove – I heard some rustling in the creek; the mink jumped out of the creek and into a yard backing up to CF. He (she?) caught a rat and took him to the little bridge crossing over into the CF and right there began munching on him! I didn’t move; was afraid to scare him off, so my pics(took several) are horrible and obstructed by branches. But got some great views through my binocs. Wow, that was pretty great (kind of gross, but great).
