2017 Crowphy Update
Folks keep asking: "Has Fyke wrested the Crowphy from Bergen County Audubon yet in their annual battle of the Christmas Bird Counts?"
I tell everyone, "Enough already. Still waiting for BCAS' results."
Somebody needs to buy these guys an abacus.
Although Fyke felt good about its chances this year, because of an 11 bird handicap and a solid 82 species seen last Saturday, the Bergen County Audubon folks report their best count in recent memory, already past 90 birds and still counting, which Bergen Audubon seems to specialize in.
This year's competition may be closer than the 2000 U.S. presidential election, Only difference: This race may come down to a dangling chat instead of a dangling chad. (Insert groan here.)
More on this year's Crowphy race here.
Stay tuned… or not.

A new paint job? It was fine when it was awarded to the BCAS two years ago….
I like the patina of the plumage myself. -
