Weirdest Monday Mystery — Answered
What is the critter featured above?
Two things: It's dead, so I was able to photograph it closeup in this odd pose.
I didn't have a quarter for scale, but trust me it's fairly small.
It is not Sasquatch or a walrus, and it will not cause bad dreams unless you sleep outside near the Butterfly Garden, where this was photographed.
Slightly closer shot below. Gotta love those digits.
Several folks answered correctly: Star-nosed mole! Congrats to all.

Almost 3 hrs. of looking today at the Greenway meadows at various times produced only 8 species, compared to 11 yesterday in half the time.
Tiger Swallowtail, Cabbage White 3, Red Admiral 2, Monarch 2, Silver-spotted Skipper 10, Peck’s Skipper 4, Northern Broken Dash, and Little Glassywing. 9 or 10 Humminbird Clearwing Moths.
I’d help with the walk Sat. but I’ll be at a family gathering in Vermont.
