Last week I asked if you could identify the colorful birds on the ceiling in the lobby of the Woolworth Building in Manhattan (above), and a young hawk perched near Ivers Road.
Nearly everyone ID'd the young buteo as a Red-shoulder, which is great news since we have not had any evidence of them nesting in Allendale the past two springs. (They are endangered when nesting in New Jersey.)
As for the Woolworth Building, Charely West ID'd the bird as a "possible" Resplendent Quetzal. (See photo below, by Tyohar Kastiel from the Natural History Museum in the U.K.)
