Monarchs and Viceroys
I was glad to see that Fred Weber spotted a Viceroy in the fields near Green Way in the Celery Farm earlier this week.
I had not seen one in a couple of years and wondered what had become of them.
I hurried to the Green Way fields during a break in the rains on Friday and got hurried looks at a Viceroy and its cousin, the Monarch.
The photos are above. How can you tell them apart?

Viceroy on the left, Monarch on the right. Here’s what I found when searching for the answer. There is a bold black line going through the veins in the hind wing on the Viceroy.

Not sure if the Viceroy might be on the right and the monarch on the left. I think the distinguishing marks are white spots along the wing edge
