The Monk Parakeets of Ridgefield
On a trip to several of my favorite birding places in the Meadowlands, I had to stop by the railroad bridge in Ridgefield to see how my buddies were doing. I saw the one above, which almost seems camouflaged, before counting a dozen in one tree.
As always, I heard them before I saw them.

I love seeing the Monk Parakeets. A pair was nesting on Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne NJ a few years ago, not there now, but I heard they are nesting nearer to Goffle Brook Park, will have to see if I can find them!
