My Latest Column: Eagle Fest, Jan. 20

My new column for The Record is all Eagle Fest at Historic New Bridge Landing and the Bald Eagle's return to the Hackensack River.

The pen and ink illustration below, drawn by by the late John R. Quinn well before the Bald Eagles made their recent comeback, portrayed the area now known as Ridgefield Park at a time when both Mastodons and Bald Eagles lived along the river. Eagles now nest again in Ridgefield Park.

This year's event is Sunday, Jan 20, from 10 a.m 2 p.m., and it's free.

I'm one of the speakers, but that's no reason to stay away.
