Scenes from the Azores (Sao Miguel Island)
On friends' recommendation, spent five full days on Sao Miguel Island in the Azores.
What an amazing and beautiful place. Friendly people, great food, amazing sights, and flowers everywhere.
Highlights included the picturesque port city of Ponta Delgada, a tea plantation, the volcanic Furnas region, and the spectacular volcanic crater at Sete Cidades (above), a paradise for hang gliders. Black-sand beaches and seaside cacti, too.
