John Workman drew this bird on his impressive 2006 Celery Farm Big Year checklist.

John asks, "What bird is it?"

Thought about White-eyed Vireo, but beak did not look right, still a possiblity
    😉

Well, per Tom Burr — in a reply to John’s comment re: your March 15, 2009, post that the drawing was made to notarize the list — it is obviously a “Protho-NOTARY” warbler. But IMHO the shading on the head suggesting a cap and dark coloration
under the eye is wrong for Prothonotary. What with the clearly documented “wild-eyed” look imparted by the pale iris, I’m thinking about an ?incompletely- or hastily-drawn Vireo. The bill isn’t heavy enough for a Jackdaw, another bird with a pale iris.

  • Catbird ?

I also thought of Rusty Blackbird, or maybe American Pipit (but that looks more like a breeding bird, not in range). This is a tough one. Does it have a white eye? If so, then maybe a female or non-breeding male Rusty Blackbird…but not if the drawing is meant to have a pale chest and belly. Over analyzing?
