Celery Farm Is Closed Until Further Notice

Wanted to give everyone a head's up that the Borough of Allendale is closing the Celery Farm Natural Area until further notice.

The trails are just too narrow too much of the time for people to keep a safe distance in this age of social distancing.

Trying to put signs up at all the entrances as soon as possible.

THE CELERY FARM IS CLOSED

In conjunction with the closing of the County parks and for the safety and well-being of the residents of Allendale and all guests, the preserve, including all footpaths and observation platforms, will remain closed to the public until further notice.

We thank you for your understanding during this uncertain time. Updates can be found on the Borough’s website at:

Sad, but necessary. I’d add that when I’d been there in recent days, the faces I met were full of suspicion that I was a carrier and they didn’t have enough room on the trail to be comfortable with me passing. In the past, the faces I saw were usually smiling and welcoming. Let’s look forward to those days again.

  • The trails are narrow, and too many people are oblivious to social distancing. The borough did the right thing. It’s unfortunate.

Saw the yellow tape at entrances. Certainly disappointing, as this was the centerpiece of my mental health strategy. If it is too dangerous to breath, outdoors, spread out over 100 acres, it certainly does make me feel a little queasy about being in a supermarket.
