Monday Morning Mystery 050420

I came across this cool video from the Philadelphia Museum of Art last week. I wonder what bird made the nest depicted in the painting…

As for the flowers, fuggedaboutit!

  • That is impressive! Thank you. I am going to share that info with the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where several paintings donated by the real James Bond’s uncle are on display….

  • Diane L.

Given the fact that Rousen painted in Williamsport, PA, and the nest’s neat, grassy, cup shape with 3 white, unmarked eggs: Blue Grosbeak or Indigo Bunting?
By the way, apparently the bird’s nest is such a recurring theme in his work that is considered a signature detail. It may symbolize fertility, renewal and the Holy Trinity (3 eggs).
