A New Wood Duck Box for the Preserve

IMG_0705Boy Scout Troop 56 out of Lacey Township donated the Wood Duck nest boxes, Celery Farm volunteer Liam Conroy got them ready for installation, and we installed one just before the snow got slushy. (The one we replaced had been on its last legs; we found it broken into pieces and left on the ice.)

We also added branches to the stickpile near the Warden's Watch and removed a broken hockey net and other litter from the ice.

Atlantic Infrared  supplied the cedar and hardware) for the Lacey Township Boy Scouts, who built three Wood Duck nest boxes for the Celery Farm in all as well as nesting boxes for other locales. The Riverkeeper facilitated everything.

(Thanks, Troop 56, Atlantic Infrared, Riverkeeper and Liam!)
